Menovinkki Espooseen: ravintola Haikaranpesä

with 7 comments

Ruoka noudattaa perinteistä suomalaista pitopöytäkaavaa, mutta ravintolan ikkunoista avautuva maisema on jotain ainutlaatuista! Haikaranpesä on kiinni heinäkuussa (tyypillistä), joten just nyt kannattaa varata pöytä!

The Haukilahti water tower in Espoo, Finland was built in 1968 and towers at 76.3 meters above sea level. In the top part is a restaurant called Haikaranpesä (”Stork’s nest”). The food is pretty standard traditional Finnish buffet food: lots of fish (gravad lax, smoked salmon and other fishes), salads and boiled new potatoes, meatballs and game. But the view! In my opinion the restaurant is worth a visit just for the amazing scenery over Espoo´s archipelago. Especially in the summer – when you can´t decide which is more beautiful: the glistening sea or the lush forests. Haikaranpesä is closed in July so bear that in mind. Reservations are recommended.
